Weekly Notes- August 26, 2018

RE Calendar:August 26th 

  • Sherry Tripodi will be the DRE sub. RE begins in service followed by gardening outside (weather permitting). Wear clothes suitable for gardening. Dismissal at 11:45 from outside or room 101/103.

Important Reminders and Upcoming Events:

  • Hunger Hike 2018 – Register Today atorg Look for our Unitarian Universalist Church team and create your own fundraising page. It’s easy! Hunger Hike is a community fundraising event whose mission is to MAKE A DIFFERENCE in the Fight Against Hunger – locally, regionally & globally. Join us for the 3K walk on Sunday, 9/16 at 2pm. Meet at Riehle Plaza. Contact Cheryl Fowler for more information.
  • We will be working on our UU scarecrow for Prophetstown’s “Trail of Scarecrows” and need the following supplies: paper bags (big and small), old newspapers, burlap sacks, string, straw hat, etc. We also need volunteers to help us design and build the scarecrow. We’ll be working on it during the retreat.
  • It’s that time of year again. Please see link below to register your child(ren) for the upcoming RE year (if you haven’t already). You will need to fill out one per child. There are paper copies available in the Fellowship Hall. If you no longer wish for your child(ren) to be registered, please let me know by Sunday, 8/19. If I don’t hear from you by that date, I will remove your name from my list.

  • Due to low summer attendance, RE classes are canceled and students will remain in service on July 29th. The nursery will be open.

    • Putting polyurethane on welcome signs/staking welcome signs
    • Building a little free library for the RE playground area
    • Painting “7 principles” hopscotch on the RE playground
    • Planning some kind of walking labyrinth/outdoor classroom
    • Hanging tire swing
