Weekly Notes- June 3, 2018

RE Calendar:June 3rd Students begin in forum room 101/103 for a board game/book exchange. Bring any books and games that you’d like to trade, play, and/or read. Dismissal from room 101/103 or outside at 11:45.We will be having a picnic following service at Happy Hollow Park where we will be tie-dying. Don’t forget to bring a white t-shirt, socks, bandana, or anything else you’d like to tie dye. Volunteers appreciated.

  • We will be having a youth (6th-12thgraders) lock-in on Monday, June 4that 6:30pm and end on Tuesday, June 5that 9:30am. (PLEASE NOTE THAT THE FORUM ROOM IS BOOKED UNTIL 8:30pm FOR QUIET MEDITATION and FELLOWSHIP HALL IS BOOKED UNTIL 8:00pm FOR A PRIVATE GROUP. Youth may utilize JJ’s room or outside until the rooms are available.

  • Great idea to create a video for Charlie and Gail!!! I was hoping the youth could help me take more video (other RE classes, etc.) this Sunday and then edit everything into a final video for June 2nd. Please let me know if you can attend/help with the following:
    • Attend youth group on 5/27 to record video segments.
    • Edit video segments into one video.
    • Attend the celebration on Saturday, June 2nd. The celebration is from 3-6pm. There is a FB event. RSVP!!!

Youth Events/To Do: We need to get together to plan for Charlie and Gail’s going away celebration. I thought it would be lovely to write and perform an original song at the party. Please let me know if you are interested in helping out. Here’s what I need from you:

  • Attend youth group on 5/20 and bring any instruments that you can play. Begin writing and practicing the song. I will be absent. Kat and Jason, can you help the youth prep for this?
  • Attend the Puccini’s fundraiser night at 5:30pm on 5/22 to help with song prep (writing, finalizing, etc.). I will be there to help. There is a FB event. RSVP!!!
  • Attend youth group on 5/27 and bring any instruments that you can play. Help with song prep and practice. Teach song to younger students.
  • Attend the celebration on Saturday, June 2ndto perform the song. The celebration is from 3-6pm. There is a FB event. RSVP!!!

RE Calendar:April 29th(Students will begin in service at 10:30. Dismissal from classrooms at 11:45. Bill Baker and his Baha’i volunteers will be in classrooms again with lessons and activities to explore the Baha’i faith, so we should only need one volunteer per classroom.)

  • Start thinking of ideas for the outdoor renovation project (things we can do to beautify/improve our outdoor space). This will be a summer project.
  • We need ideas for a youth only workshop at the Labor Day retreat. Be creative and submit all ideas to the DRE. We will discuss them and vote at a later date.
  • I need youth helpers to plan the May 6thservice on what it means to be a UU. We’ll be meeting again on Sunday, 4/29 at 11:45. Don’t forget that we’ll need several more paper lotuses made for this service.
  • I would like to include the youth’s input in my monthly board reports. Would anybody be willing to be the youth room secretary on Sundays and share any input with me before the second Tuesday of each month?
  • Is anyone interested in participating in a book club for the book, The Hate U Give? It is an amazing book with a powerful message.
  • I need help with the following. Please let me know if you’re interested in any of the following: redoing the bulletin boards, putting together a scrapbook, helping plan fall yoUUth curriculum (students take turns planning workshops), working on the RE yearbook, helping out with the cycling interest club over the summer.
