Weekly Notes- July 7, 2015

Last week, the students visited Battleground Park. Next week, they’ll head to Tapawingo Park/Heritage Trail.

  • RE Class Information and Guide Schedule for 7/12: I will be absent.

Students will meet in the fellowship hall at 10:30 for our field trip to Tapawingo Park/Heritage Trail. Pickup will be at 12:30 in the fellowship hall. Drivers/Chaperones: Sarah Cannon. In the event of rain/lack of drivers/RE students may remain in service.

In the event of rain, students will meet in room 101/103 for a spirit circle and pickup will be at 11:45.

  • There will be OWL training in Elkhart on August 21st and 22nd at all levels. Please let me know if you’re interested in attending.

Last week, Kat gave us an amazing tour of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Samara house. This week, we’re headed to the Columbian Park Zoo.

Last week we visited the Purdue student farm and were given a tour by Rachel. We got to dig up carrots, learn about different crops, see butterflies, and eat a picnic lunch. Next week, we’ll visit Frank Lloyd Wright’s Samara house.

OWL (Our Whole Lives) is a values-based curriculum that helps participants make informed and responsible decisions about their sexual health and behavior. It equips participants with accurate, age-appropriate information in six subject areas: human development, relationships, personal skills, sexual behavior, sexual health, and society and culture.

Where: Elkhart, IN (Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Elkhart)

What: Safe Zone Training

During the three-hour Safe Zone training, members develop an understanding of LGBTQ terminology and symbols, history, concepts of privilege and identity development, interact with a panel of LGBTQ speakers, and build skills for identifying and interrupting language and behavior that may be discriminatory.

Where: Purdue University LGBTQ Center (475 Stadium Mall Dr.)

When: Please choose from the following dates: 7/19, 9/1, 9/20, 10/11, 10/27, 11/24, 12/6, 12/16. All workshops are 2pm-5pm.

Box City is an event put on by Family Promise of Greater Lafayette to raise awareness of the homeless population. Participants will create structures out of boxes and sleep in them overnight.
