Weekly Notes- September 29, 2015

Last week, we celebrated our pet companions with the “Blessing of the Animals” service. There were cats, dogs, a bunny, and some stuffed furry friends. Next week, we’ll be learning more about the interconnectedness of all things and discussing generosity as we kick off the stewardship campaign.

RE Class Information and Guide Schedule for 10/11: STUDENTS BEGIN AND STAY IN SERVICE IF NOT ATTENDING FIELD TRIP. CHILDCARE AVAILABLE IN NURSERY FOR CHILDREN AGES 8 AND YOUNGER IF NEEDED.

Indianapolis Children’s Museum Field Trip Information:

  • Time: Please meet in the fellowship hall at 10:30 for a 10:45 departure time. Pickup will be by 4:00 in the fellowship hall.
  • Lunch: Please bring a sack lunch. We will eat upon arrival.
  • Cost: Groups of 20 or more qualify for reduced admission to the museum. We need 4 more people to sign up to get the discounted rate.
  • Youth (ages 2–17): $12.50 discounted rate ($18.50)
  • Adult (Ages 18–59): $16.50 discounted rate ($21.50)
  • Senior (60+): $15.75 discounted rate ($20.50)

Last week, we had our first spirit circle of the semester. We made chalices out of Legos, magazine collages of the seven principles, UU trading cards, and rainbow mobiles. Next week will be an all ages service for the “Blessing of the Animals.” Please bring pets and/or stuffed animals to the service.

Last week, we learned about influential UU’s. Next week, we’ll learn more about what it means to be a UU as we prepare for our UU Museum with a spirit circle for grades prek-6th. The 7th-12th graders will continue to build their knowledge of world religions as they explore the “Neighboring Faiths” curriculum.

  • Who are some important/influential UU people?
  • What are some problems I notice in the world around me? How can I be a problem solver?
  • What is the greatest invention of my time?
  • Who are some people who have helped shape me?
  • What are the 7 principles/6 sources and what do they mean to me?

Important Reminders and Upcoming Events:

  • We will be having a UU Museum in room 101/103 from 11:45-12:15 on September 20th. Stop by and check out all the hard work the RE classes have been doing to learn about UU history and important UU people.
  • There will be an OWL meeting from 9:45-10:15 in room 104 on September 20th.
