Materials Needed:

  • Harry Potter curriculum materials needed: any books in the Harry Potter series, variety of keys (preferably old/antique keys), 1 inch wide sheer/wired ribbon, fishing line, food coloring, Borax powder, lemon-lime soda, white grape juice, lemonade, lemon Jello in powder form, clay/play dough, pipe cleaners, Magic 8 ball, 15 large feathers, decorative duct tape

RE Collection: We will be beginning collection/offertory in the RE classrooms. Our collection drive kicked off on September 11th and ends on October 23rd. This month’s collection is new or gently used books, new school supplies, or change to benefit our “change for change” program.

  • Please see the RE bulletin board/table in the fellowship hall and https://regluu.wordpress.com/ for important RE information and announcements.
  • RE registration is now up for the 2016-2017 semester. Please see the RE website to register your child or use this link: http://goo.gl/forms/9uABHMHsyK
  • October 6th UUCTC will receive 50% of the proceeds from ANYBODY who attends Monster Mini Golf on Thursday, October 6th from 2-9pm. No flyer needed! Join us for a good time and help support UUCTC!!!
  • Mystery Pals is a program to match youth and adults of all ages so that we, as a congregation, can make connections, learn more about each other, and support intergenerational community.
    • Anyone is eligible to participate as long as you:
      • are over the age of 4
      • can commit to delivering letters starting October 16th
      • can attend the November 6th mystery pal reveal celebration potluck
    • Rules:
  1. If you meet the participation requirements, please fill out the information at the bottom of the sheet (available at the RE volunteer table) and turn in to the DRE, Nicole Rice, via e-mail (drenicolerice@gmail.com) or in the DRE mailbox. All information must be turned in by Sunday, October 9th in order to participate.
  2. You will be assigned a number that corresponds with an envelope on the large orange bulletin boards in the fellowship hall. Your number is the same as that of your youth/youthful adult counterpart. You can use these envelopes to leave and receive letters, drawings, small gifts, etc. If your item is too big to fit in an envelope, please get the DRE to deliver the item by labeling with the following information: Deliver to: youth or youthful adult and Number
  3. Calendar and Suggested Items:
  4. October 9th- must have signed up with DRE
  5. October 16th- introduction letter
  6. October 23rd- response letter
  7. October 30th- memory/tradition/drawing about autumn
  8. November 6th- final reveal- You may choose to bring a small gift or other token. We will celebrate by eating potluck lunch together and getting to know each other better. Special treats provided by the DRE!!!
  • Forum- Please consider attending the following Sunday forums that may be of interest to RE families:
    • October 16th Elicker will discuss the concept of 30 million words and explore the connection between spoken word and academic performance.
    • October 23rd RE alumni, Kate French, will discuss language acquisition of children.
    • October 30th Our 6th-12th graders will discuss how the current political landscape affects them in their day to day lives.
