What a heart-wrenching day.  As I alternate between sadness, frustration, and anger over the terrible tragedy in Conneticut, I am reminded how connected we all are.  Just because this incident didn’t occur in our back yard, it doesn’t mean we aren’t all affected.  This Sunday’s service is focussed on our children and youth.  We will bask in the love we have for and the love we receive from our children as we worship together as a church family.  How sacred.

In the meantime, I want to offer a list of resources in the event anyone needs them.  Sometimes, despite our best efforts, children are exposed to things we’d rather they not be exposed to.   Please don’t hesitate to contact me for assistance anytime you think I might be able to help.

Below please find a listing of Youth CONS for 2013 that are scheduled to date.  Please be sure to let either me or one of the youth advisors know if your youth is interested in attending any (or maybe all!) of them.  In the coming weeks, we will be ramping up preparation for Justice CON, to be held here.  Keep your eye out for announcements (I think I have at least one very exciting one coming!)  and volunteer opportunities.   As always, thanks for supporting our beautiful, bright, and ambitious youth!

We are proud in the Heartland District to support a very active youth and young adult conference – CON – schedule.  January 2013 CONS are now open for registration.  Learn more and register at

Parents: Important information about holiday pageant for Dec 16!

The December 16th 2012 worship service has been reserved for the holiday pageant put on by RE children and youth classes.  Children do not need special costumes, but are encouraged to wear festive, fun attire.  Santa is the star and organizing theme of this year’s pageant.

There will be a dry run through next Sunday, December 9th, right after the worship service in the sanctuary.  We will make sure to have snacks during RE time so the kids who stay to practice won’t get too hungry or distracted during practice.

Below are links to videos of the four songs with lyrics the kids will be singing.   It would be helpful if kids could find a little time to practice at home:
